The liver is the organ responsible for eliminating toxins and metabolizing food in the body. With each passing day, the liver seems to be under more pressure due to the accumulation of toxins in the liver.
This makes the liver very vulnerable. High liver enzymes are symptoms that appear very early, signalling the liver needs care. To bring liver enzymes to a safe level, you should follow these steps:
1. Do not drink alcohol.
Or to be more precise, do not use alcoholic beverages. Normally, when entering the body, the liver will have to “process” the amount of alcohol and excrete them out. But when the liver is weak or the amount of alcohol is too much, the opposite will happen, alcohol will “process” the liver, destroying liver cells. Therefore, in daily life, you should limit drinking alcohol to protect the liver. Especially when the liver is inflamed, liver enzymes are high, the patient needs to absolutely abstain from alcohol to help the liver recover quickly.
2. Talk to your doctor, pharmacist about the medicine you are taking.
Some medications can damage the liver and increase liver enzymes. There are drugs that can cause toxicity in the first dose, but there are also drugs that cause liver damage due to prolonged use. Therefore, if you detect elevated liver enzymes while taking certain medications, you should talk to your doctor to find out the exact cause.
3. Limit eating ready-made food.
Fast food is convenient and growing in popularity. However, you should not eat them every day because of health problems. Usually, in processed foods, there are added preservatives, additives to create colors, flavors … to create attractiveness for customers and preserve them for a long time. These synthetic chemicals are often difficult to break down and eliminate, so they accumulate in the body, especially in the liver, causing liver toxicity.
4. Stay away from environmental toxins (wall paint, cigarette smoke, etc.)
Cigarette smoke contains many toxins that not only cause lung disease, but also absorbed into the blood, metabolized in the liver and caused liver damage.
The composition of paint (wall) contains many solvents that are soluble, volatile in the air and if you regularly inhale this solvent, it can be absorbed into the body, causing liver toxicity. Therefore, you should learn to protect and stay away from these toxins.
5. Drink lots of water.
Drinking lots of water is very beneficial for the liver. Drinking water helps accelerate blood circulation and enhances the functioning of liver cells, helping the process of eliminating toxins from the body faster. To achieve detoxification effect for the liver, every day should drink 2 liters – 2.5 liters of water, divided into several times a day, each time should only drink from 150-200ml.
6. Lose weight
In many cases, elevated liver enzymes are caused by more than normal fat deposits in the liver, also known as fatty liver. According to research by Dennis Lee, losing 5-10% of your weight will help you lower your liver enzymes and improve your overall health. You should reduce the consumption of high-fat foods and increase the portion of vegetables containing many vitamins to help the liver eliminate toxins better.
7. Daily exercise
Daily exercise not only helps in better weight control, but also helps you improve blood circulation. The liver needs a constant supply of blood and nutrients to function properly.
