Salty foods increase the risk of stomach cancer

Stomach cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the world with around 776,000 deaths in 1996. It is also the 4th most common cancer in the world, in the UK, cancer Stomach cancer is reported with about 10,000 cases each year.

The issue of salty foods increasing the risk of stomach cancer has been published in many famous magazines, including Nature magazine with the content, people who regularly eat a diet with salty foods have twice the risk of stomach cancer compared to people with a normal diet.

According to another study in Japan, it was studied on about 40,000 middle-aged people with different diets and regular smokers for about 11 consecutive years. Research has shown that the risk of stomach cancer in Japanese men with a low-salt diet is 1 in 1000 people.

As for those with a regular salty diet, the rate of stomach cancer is 1/500. For women with a low-salt diet, the rate of stomach cancer was 1/2000, the other group, the rate of stomach cancer was 1/1300. Thus, men often have a higher risk of stomach cancer than women.

Scientists know that a diet high in salt can cause atrophic gastritis, which is a prerequisite for stomach cancer to develop. In addition, salted foods, pickles and smoked foods also increase the risk of stomach cancer.

How to prevent stomach cancer

  • Limit salt intake

Foods such as salted fish, pickled cucumbers, although very convenient and easy to eat, they contain quite a lot of nitrite and secondary amines that, when entering the stomach, can combine into extremely toxic nitrosamines that cause cancer. So please limit the use of these foods and should use fresh foods that will be more nutritious and safer for your stomach.

  • Eat lots of fresh vegetables

Vegetables are a rich source of fiber and vitamins. Strengthening vitamins A, B, E to help protect the stomach lining and prevent cancer effectively.

  • No smoking and drinking

Smoking and alcohol abuse are one of the causes of many cancers, including stomach cancer. So removing these things from your life is the best way to prevent cancer.

  • Limit smoked foods

Smoked meat as well as grilled and fried foods are often processed at high temperatures, even with reusable cooking oils that contain many carcinogens such as benzopyrene. Although very attractive, you should not eat or eat less of these foods.

  • Do not eat moldy foods

In recent times we have seen many cases of poisoning or death from eating moldy food. Some moldy foods such as rice, corn, and peanuts may contain carcinogens. extremely toxic, you need to remove these foods immediately if you have any doubts.

  • Have healthy eating habits

Practicing eating habits on time and chewing food slowly helps to reduce the burden on the stomach and minimize the damage to the stomach lining. Absolutely do not eat too salty or too sour.
